Chapter 2

Warming up to you.

Vincent sighed as he wondered into the school his mom had to leave early to get some things done and wouldn't be at the school until 9:00 meaning he had to take his bike all the way to school he normally did that whenever his mom had to do something meaning his aunt the school nurse Sunny took over until then, better her than his Aunt Gregan she was brutal event to him if he deserved it. To his surprise waiting at his locker was her, Mini Candy. She was always near him, in the Library, his classes right next to him, she event waited outside the boys bathroom and locker room in gym class, he was beginning to wonder if he had a stalker great just what he needed a girl who followed him everywhere must be Beau trying to get her to pick away at him by having someone who seemed interested in him.

"Fuck!" "Language Vincent" Ginger said walking past him, "Sorry Ginger..." He said calmly before walking to his locker 'What the hell does she want now we had a long weekend off school and now she's back at my locker again, WHY WONT SHE LEAVE ME ALONE!' He thought to himself as she greeted him with a smile "Good Morning Vincent, how was your long weekend off school?" She asked and he sighed "You want my answer fine, I spent it out of town with my family, it was annoying and hellish" He grumbled opening his locker after fighting with his lock. "Look if Beau is trying to get you to hurt me if I let my guard down to you then your out of luck ok, I've been punished enough i-" He blinked as her finger made contact with his lips "Does anyone else see your eyes? ears and tail? event the blood coming from your eyes?" She asked as his eye twitched a bit, how did she know that? Nobody could see it aside from his family was she toying with him? He growled grabbing his books before slamming his locker closed. "Look, JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!" He barked storming off down the hallway leaving her there.

'I will get to that calmer side of you just wait Vincent Skellington' She thought to herself walking down the hallway into the class where Vincent was sitting at, Science class one of the most grouped project classes in the whole school and better yet at the end of November was the school Science fair everyone had to be in a group of two or four and she was gonna get Vincent as a partner and didn't care what he would say to make it not happen. Huntessa or as the class knew her as Tessa walked in and smiled before clapping her hands together. "your both gonna be science partners!" She said with excitement, "mhmm sure..." Vincent said before popping his head up "WHAT? NO I always do my projects alone, I-I don't need no partner!" He exclaimed as Tessa crossed her arms "You need friends Vincent and you two are the only one's here and my judgement is final or I can give you an F now if you'd like" She said as he sighed "Fine...I'll be her stupid partner" "Good, that wasn't so hard now was it?" She said a Vincent smacked his head against his desk. Mini Candy smiled this meant spending weeks working on the project together and weeks for her to break away his defense.

The day gotten worse but only to Vincent in every class that had projects event gym class he was partnered with her, 'The day is against me I SWEAR, every class she's my partner...WHY AM I LIVING IN HELL NOW?' He thought to himself as he counted her push ups "Ok that's enough Push up's move to the next Obstacle" Gregan said as he wrote down the number she did "I did more than 10 silly, I counted 31 push ups that's 4 more than you" She giggled as he grumbled erasing what he wrote to put the correct number, he was still silent but she knew it was a matter of time before he cracked and told her why he was so cold towards anyone. Gregan looked at the clock and sighed "Never mind class is almost over it's about to be lunch time, go get changed and shower off class is dismissed" She said Mini looked at Vincent who wondered to the teachers room it was where he always went to change and shower the only place he wasn't trapped with the one's who hurt him, she would wait for him to leave that's when she would pounce and finally get the answers she wanted.

Vincent sighed walking out of the gym not looking before him, he put his phone away before getting tackled to the ground with force he did not know. Mini Candy stared at him as his two toned eyes opened and made contact with her grey ones, she pointed at herself and asked calmly but slightly annoyed "Why wont you talk to me?" He sat up both arms behind him giving him support as she sat on him, she had one hand pushing down on his stomach her cheeks puffed out slightly, this was like sith grade all over again, a girl interested in him and his school bully changed her mind.

~Flashback!~
Vincent smiled raising his hand to give his teacher the answer, before the door opened and the principal walked in "Good Morning students, I like to introduce a new student she'll be in your class" Vincent looked up as a girl with soft red hair walked in, her blue eyes where like sapphire gems most guys said girls had cooties but event they where staring at her with interest, she was staring right at Vincent with a soft smile. "My name is Crystal Ketter, I moved here from Chicago" The Principal smiled and walked out of the room "Make her feel welcomed to the school" He closed the door, the teacher smiled and pointed out "There is an empty seat next to Vincent" Crystal smiled and sat next to him as he smiled "Hi, my name is Vincent Skellington" "Nice to meet you Vincent" She said "D-do you wanna get ice cream after school, I know it's to so-" "I'd love to get Ice cream with you after school Vincent" She said smiling at him, she seemed quite happy that he asked her.

Vincent held open the door as Crystal walked in "Thank you Vincent" She said as they made their way to the booth, "Aww look Vincent has a new friend, what can I get you Sweetheart?" The girl asked Vincent she knew him since he came by often after school "The usual for me please Kelsie" Vincent said smiling "You got it buddy, and you my dear?" She looked at Crystal as she placed her finger to her lips "mmm Root bear float for me please" She asked as Kelsie nodded "Ok I'll get right on them" She said walking off to the back, "So why did you move here Crystal?" Vincent asked as she looked at him "My dad got transferred here he's a police officer" She said smiling "You know Vincent, I like you your cuter than the others in class and Beau is a meanie" She said pouting a bit, Vincent blushed a bit as he looked out the window "He wasn't always so mean, we where actually good friends in 3rd grade but once 4th grade started he just changed, he bullies me everyday, but I don't let it bother me" He said as Kelsie placed the Root Bear Float before Crystal and the Mint swirl in front of Vincent "Enjoy your Ice cream you two" She said walking away.

Vincent picked up his spoon and started eating his ice cream before Beau walked in "Well well well look what we have here, hey beautiful what are you doing hanging out with the outcast?" He said laughing "For your information we are having Ice cream" She said taking a sip of her root bear, Beau looked at Vincent and picked up his ice cream "You don't mind do ya?" He said turning the bowl upside down and placing it on Vincent's head as they laugh "Look Crystal he's a loser, I mean he cried during a horror movie" He said as she looked at Vincent removing the bowl and ice cream from his head "You cried during a horror movie? what one?" She asked "It was Saw, that movie was a master piece" Beau said as she started laughing "I may have jumped but I never cried during it ha ha you are pathetic" She said getting up "Sorry but I don't date cry babies!" She said walking out with Beau and his goons, Kelsie walked over to Vincent and looked at him, he had tears running down his face. Kelsie turned him towards her as she hugged him "It's ok sweetie I cried watching it to, here I'll take you home" She said removing her apron and hat "Hey, Josh I'm gonna go on break early, gonna take Vincent home to clean himself off" She said "Ok, see ya little man,  and don't worry about paying your family here at my Ice Cream shop." He said as Vincent nodded "T-thank you Josh" Vincent headed for the door with Kelsie behind him.

~Flashback Over~

He sighed looking away from her, he didn't want anyone liking him or event saying they loved him for that fact every time something happy happened to him Beau always ruined it but not this time. "Look, every time I make a friend it always ends up going bad, for me and only me why are you so obsessed with me anyways? I'm not interesting, fun and the whole school wants me dead...in a way.." He said she blinked she was actually surprised he said a full sentence to her event added a question or two in there, she looked at him still before smiling "Because, not everyone is corrupted by Beau and his 'I'm and asshole' role, he maybe the jock of the school and star quarterback but you have way more character than he does, I like you because you have this, this Ora about you that I like" She said looking at him, he looks down she did it, she actually broke him she finally won and got through his shielding, he looked at her as she smiled softly. Maybe she actually did care about him and hated Beau as much as he did, he let out a sigh before sitting up better and wrapped his arms around her giving her a hug, she blushed a bit but hugged him back as he spoke softly words she thought she'd never hear "Thank you...For not giving up on me"

A few days after she always waited for him by his locker but not this time, she was walking to school with him and that made Beau angry, he wasn't afraid to walk around people as long as she was by his side he was actually smiling and laughing something he hasn't done in years. They where best of friends if she needed his help he was there and if he needed her help she was there. Beau grew angry every day with this he watched them and knew if it continued he'd lose rule over the school, he needed to find a way to split them up event if it meant breaking Vincent in the progress.

Beau tried every chance he got but nothing  he was only breaking himself in the progress getting more crazy each day until he just snapped, he ended up going to a Mental Insane Asylum after that day everyone was all smiles and cheers but still shot angered looks towards Vincent but it didn't bother him one bit. "Hey Mini Candy since we have the next two week off and since we finished our Science project early my mom and dad are taking me to the ski resort and I was.." "I'd love to join you on that trip Vincent" She said before he could ask her, he smiled softly "R-Really? I'll tell my mom  o-only if your fine sharing a room with me that is I'll respect your privacy when we are their" He said as she laughed "It's fine, as long as we get the bathroom figured out before hand" She said as he rubbed the back of his head. "Yea don't worry I'll figure it out" he laughed as she hugged him "I'm glad you opened up to me Vincent, outcast or not your always gonna be my Outcast!" She said "And you'll always be my Princess" He added as she looked up at him "P-Princess? really?" She asked "Yes and as your Outcast, I'll always protect you" He said as she giggled.

Vincent opened the door to their shared room allowing her to walk in first, he picked up the bags putting them down by the door and closes it behind him, she was looking out the window at the view and smiles "I can't believe your parents got us the pent house sweet it's so HUGE in here!" She giggled plopping down on the couch it was like living in a house but with lots of windows, a big open kitchen and a huge living room with a plasma tv it event had a balcony with a hot tub, he couldn't imagine the room but at least it had two bathrooms, his parents couldn't make it seeing as they had family matters to attend to something only adults could understand he was still to young to go with them but he'd have just as much fun with Mini Candy, skiing, snowboarding, ice skating event trail rides on snowmobiles anything really there was so much to do and 2 weeks to do it in.

Vincent wondered into the room and sighed only one bed he'd have to sleep on the couch as Mini Candy walked in "oh a King sized bed you can sleep close to the door and I'll sleep close to the window and we'll still have plenty of room to spare" She said with a smile as Vincent blushed a bit, Share a bed with her it's like they where a couple but they where only best friends it be weird to be more than that but it has crossed his mind a few times what it be like if they dated, they where teens he was 18 and she was like 16 or so, but he never asked her how old she was not that it mattered to him all he wanted was a way to say thank you to her for bringing a smile back to his face.

It was their last week at the Ski resort their first week was so much fun, skiing down the hill as she laughed at him he was no match for gravity or the slippery snow when it came to snowboarding not that he was bad at it he just hit a patch of hidden ice and went for a slide on his back down the long hill to the leveled ground below, she did try to stop him a few times but he ended up on the worlds biggest coldest wettest slide ever! lucky he didn't catch a cold or the trip would have to end early and he wasn't ready for that. She wanted to go skating on the ice trail  there were so many different trails the ice one seemed more to her liking, he on the other hand was bad as skating event on roller blades he always found a way on his ass, but he was gonna do this for her, seeing as this week was her choice she gave him their first week for his choices he didn't wanna let her down, she put on her boots and looked up at him smiling. "Are you ready? this trail is gonna be so fun I do like ice skating." She said as he walked over to her with a smile upon his face "heh yea ice skating is gonna be fun" He said slightly off tune she just laughed opening the door as he closed it behind him.

They walked over to the bench both removed their shoes and took out their skates from in the bag Vincent brought, he bought skates instead of renting a pare from the shop. He put their shoes into the bag as they get up and step on the ice, Vincent felt a little uneasy on the ice but once Mini Candy took his hand he forgotten about the ice as she pulls him across the ice he tried to regain his balance again as they glide down the pathway, they seem to be the only one's on the path but they where fine with it, it was peaceful and calming, listening to the birds sing  they event seen a few deer's and squirrel running around in the distance. "Wow this is so fun I never had so much fun, it's event better with you Vincent" She said looking up at him with a smile. "Yea, this Resort is the best, I mean there's only so much Martial arts can do, this actually makes me forget about the bad things that happened to me over they years. Your one of the best moment's I've ever had" He said as she giggled before giving him a kiss on his cheek since he was a little taller than her and the skates added an extra height to him.

Vincent blushed a bit and looked down at her "W-what was that for?" He asked "Because your cute and I like you your funny." She said before pulling him with her they came to a rink marking the end of the path, there still was nobody in sight must have been a slow day but they didn't mind it. Vincent put the bag down on one of the benches along the outside edge, he ends up being pulled back onto the ice by Mini Candy as she spun them both holding onto his hands as she laughed "Woo he he this is so much fun" She said before losing her balance, she fell onto Vincent as his behind made contact with the ice, he kept his head up so he wouldn't hit the ice they skidded over to a snow pile finally stopping, Mini Candy sat up slightly and looked down at Vincent who had some snow in his face, she giggled a bit blushing softly as she removed the snow from his face allowing him to open his eyes the blue one was more icy blue than normal as he stared at her it was like he was staring at an Angel since his vision was slightly blurry some snow gotten into his eye drowning out his vision a bit, "Are you an angel?" He asked as Mini Candy blushed more "N-No, it's me silly Mini Candy" She said as he sat up a bit removing more of the snow from his face allowing him to blink removing the melted snow, his vision was cleared as he stared at Mini Candy who's face was almost as red as a Tomato "Are you ok? your face is like a Tomato are you catching a cold?" He asked as she closed her eyes and shook her head. "N-No I'm fine" She said before hugging him.

Vincent hugged her back forgetting he was supporting them both, he fell back taking Mini Candy with him. They laid there for a while before Mini Candy gotten to her feet helping Vincent up as well, "Well....that was fun why don't we head back we can go to town for dinner" Vincent said as she nodded "Y-yea that sounds like fun" She said as he skated over to the bag picking it up, Mini Candy smiled as she took his hand, they headed back down the path.
They gotten back to their room, removing their coats and boots, Vincent went to the bedroom and pulled out some dry clothes it was odd how they got snow down their coats, he wondered over to the bathroom as Mini Candy came into the room grabbing dry clothes as well meaning Vincent had to wait in the bathroom until she was dressed it's how they worked it out better than using the other bathroom near the kitchen. Vincent got changed and sighed thinking Mini Candy was done getting dressed, he waited a few more minutes before opening the door "So you..." He stopped and blushed before covering his eyes as she looked up at him "S-sorry I didn't know you where still getting dressed" He said turning around as she giggled blushing herself "I-It's fine could you help me get the zipper? She asked pulling the dress up over her shoulders, Vincent turned around and walked over to her with one eye opened so she could see where he was going and the zipper. "Y-yea sure..." He zipped her up as she smiled "Hope this isn't to dressy for dinner" She said looking at him with a warming smile "N-not at all you look beautiful" He said.

They sat at the table waiting for their order as Vincent looked down a bit, she smiled looking at him "This place in really nice don't you think?" She said as he looked up at her "Yea, it's fancy to." He looked around feeling slightly out of place, his outfit was a poor choice but she picked the place so he couldn't complain not that it bothered him much. "This feels like a date doesn't it?" She smiled looking at him, He looked at her A date? did she really say that? or was his mind playing tricks on him again. "A d-date? I-I guess it does" He said playing with his hands above the table, she smiled placing her hands on his to stop him. "Vincent would you think differently of me if I said I wanted to be more than friends?" She asked him as his face turned red. "A-as in you like like me?" He asked as she nodded "yes, because I do Like like you." "I-I feel the same about you" He said as she smiled "So...maybe we could try and be girlfriend boyfriend" She said as he nodded "S-sure we could" They smiled at one another as their dinner arrived.

Their week was over and they had so many pictures of their fun time there Vincent event placed them in an album she titled 'Ski Trip'.
"You ready to leave and head back home?" He asked as she walked out of the bedroom smiling "Yea, maybe we can come back here one day it was quite fun" She said walking over to him giving him a hug as he kissed her softly "Yea maybe during our Christmas Holidays we can come back here." He said as she giggled, grabbing her bag and heading to the door grabbing her coat "Let's get going Tomorrow is the science fair I bet we are gonna blow everyone away with our project" She said giggling, he smiled grabbing his coat giving the room a look over for anything they might have missed but it was clean and spotless.
They got into the car and drove off back towards home, it was a good few miles from the resort, Vincent looked at her as she turned up the radio a bit the song that was playing was one he remembered as a kid, his mom use to play it whenever they cleaned the house the memories of his time just him and his mother, he knew his dad was busy with his "Job" but he did miss him only during the holidays he came home to spend time with them but this Christmas he had to stay at work, he smiled softly as she clapped her hands and starting singing along "This is a song - for the lonely Can you hear me tonight? For the broken heated, battle scarred I'll be by your side And this is a song - for the lonely When your dreams won't come true Can you hear this prayer? 'Cause someone's there for you" She looked at him and smiled "I love this song, it actually suits you Vincent but now your not alone cause you have me" She said as he smiled "And you have me as well" He replied to her.

He gets to her house helping her get her stuff and walks her to the door "The last two weeks will be my most happy weeks ever Vincent cause I have you in my life" She said kissing him as she returns the kiss "As it will be for me Candy, I'm glad I met you and you never gave up on me either" He said as she opened the door "See you tomorrow Vincent" She said "Since I never really drove my car to school maybe I can pick you up tomorrow?" He said as she giggled "I'll be waiting til then" as she closed the door behind her, he smiled walking to his car getting in and drives home.

~Science Fair~
Vincent drove to Candy's house she she opened the door running over to the car, she opened the passenger door and got in smiling at him "Good Morning Vincent!" She said kissing his cheek "Good Morning to you to Candy" He said smiling as she put on her seat belt, it gotten colder out but that was normal since December was around the corner more specific tomorrow, the Science fair was always on the 30th of November, they where ready for the Science fair since Vincent was a mechanical genius and she was better at putting words to paper so she did the boards explaining their project.
Vincent pulled into a parking spot next to his mom's car she had to get their super early to help get things set up for the fair. Mini Candy got out as he closed his door locking the car "Well I believe we can do this first place and A+ here we come" She said looking at Vincent as he laughed "Yea, but you never know someone could have made something better than we did" he said as they walked up and into the school, there was a few kids who came in early they did live on the school grounds in the Dorms like he use to but it was to much of a hassle with the guys so he always went home instead, they wondered into the gym as they looked around "It looks so much bigger than normal" She said as he laughed "We always had gym in Gym A the opened the sliding wall to Gym B" "Oh so that's why I always heard noise on the other side of that wall" She said as he nodded "Yea the other Teacher Tessa's Husband teaches the Guys Basketball team so he works on the other side" He said as she giggled "Oh, I didn't know that but now I do"

They got everything set up in the back corner Vincent always set up there since not many kids wanted to be viewed last, he helped Mini Candy set up the boards before he went off to get their project. Not many thought of a robotic helper none could figure out the mechanics or wires, lucky him he knew a few things thanks to his mom's one friend Cyber. He brought it into the room as he looked around, more and more students and adults where showing up and getting things set up for their projects, he looked around but Mini Candy wasn't there, he sighed checking over the robot before getting hugged from behind "Hey I got us something to munch on I forgot to eat breakfast" She said as he looked at her "Yea same here I was in such a hurry to get everything ready" He said putting down the small remote as Mini Candy handed him a on the go cereal bar, they finish eating it and get back to finishing up their project. "So he can do anything from, cooking and cleaning?' She asked as he nodded "Yea his protective layer protects him from water so he can't short circlet or anything" He said smiling as his mom walked over with a clip board "I see you've improved from a tiny robot to a bigger model Vincent, I remember when you completely changed the programming of your tiny toy one what did you name him ah yes Robert" She said as Mini Candy giggled "Yea well this is Robert 2.0 I just upgraded his chip to allow him to do more than clean the floors" He said "Well the last group is just finishing setting up so I'll just mark you now since I'm here" Vixen said as hey smiled, the other three judges walked over and smiled they where from the university across town just to make the odds more fair.

They talked over one another pointing out things as Vincent and Mini Candy explained and showed what Robert could do, it felt weird to Vincent being the first one to present his project but he never was one to be picked first. The judges wrote down their results and thanked him for his demonstration walking off to the next group. "I think they liked it Vincent did you see their smiles?" Mini Candy said as he hugged her "Yea I did, event my mom was impressed to be fair when I was younger Robert 1.0 was actually my first project he needed some work though but Beau's Volcano gotten first place" He sighed but smiled "I can't believe being partnered would feel so, comforting" He said as she giggled "Yea, and the support is all the better when it comes from your girlfriend" She said poking his nose.

Everyone gathered  around the front of the gym where no tables where to hear the results of Third, Second and First place. The one lady cleared her throat as she read off her clip board "We thank each and every one of you for showing up to this Science fair, but we only have three trophy's for the top three Projects here today, so we shall start" She said
"And in First place we have, Vincent and Candy with Robert 2.0" The lady said and Vincent and Candy look at one another in amazement, they walked up as the lady handed them the golden trophy, "Congratulations you two on your project everything you did moved smoothly and without a problem, where is your robotic buddy?" The lady asked as Vincent pushed a button on the remote "He's right here" Vincent said as the robot walked through the crowed and stopped before them as it bows like a human would "Thank you for this!" Robert said as everyone cheered and clapped. "Oh he talks to?" "Yea he can do many things" Mini Candy said as Robert stood up turning to the crowed and waved. "I made his AI advanced enough he has feelings of his own" Vincent smiled as Robert waved to everyone.

"Well I think today was a success don't you think Vincent? Mini Candy said looking up at the sky "Yea, today really was perfect and the Janitor has a new friend to help clean this huge school" Vincent said looking at her "Yea, your life seems to be changing" "Naw I'm still the school outcast and I'm fine with it" He said as she giggled "And I'm the Outcast Princess" She added as he picked her up and spun her around before hugging her "Your the best thing in my life and I wouldn't have it any other way!" Mini Candy smiled and hugged him back "Neither would I" she added kissing his cheek.
